Wednesday’s 10 degree Aquarius new moon (4:36 a.m. pacific), aside from being the new moon that launches the year of the snake, has good fortune written all over it.
The first thing I noticed about this new moon’s chart was the highly auspicious sun/moon to Jupiter trine. Jupiter, as you probably know, is the planet of luck and expansion. To have Jupiter in such lucky aspect (the trine is arguably the best and most harmonious aspect in astrology), means that there will be no shortage of opportunity and synchronicity. And how will this luck most likely come about? Well, with Jupiter in talkative Gemini, trining friendly Aquarius, I would say through conversation, media, writing and those out-of-the-blue inspirations.
Another stroke of luck comes from Mars, which all-too-often, can be problematic. but this time, it’s work-meets-opportunity. Be ready for the lucky break(s) you want to manifest in your life, and be very open and flexible as to how they will show up.
And what about true love? Well, with Venus and Neptune conjunct, there will be a lot of that, but beware, because the other side of Neptune is illusion, so the pretenders will be out in force as well. Tune in and trust your gut. Take it slow, as the right connection will keep, and the right person won’t push.
And you know who probably isn’t the right one? Your ex. Yep, Jupiter and Saturn are in a square, which can make a bad thing look good, or vice-versa. And Saturn is the planet of the past. But when Jupiter’s involved, all is well that ends well, so just trust yourself and your own intuition over any suitor, or anyone popping up to offer the opportunity of a lifetime, as the right moves will become clear if you tune in. Just don’t let anyone put you on the hurry-up.
But seriously, that Jupiter square is the only square, and it almost doesn’t count, because… Jupiter always brings luck, even if we sometimes insist on taking the more difficult path to get to it.
A couple more things: the north node, sign of purpose, is conjunct Neptune and Venus. This is good news for anyone whose purpose is tied to love, beauty, spirituality and/or healing. Yes, your gifts and your confidence in them are needed more than ever right now.
Wow, so if this sounds like a great new moon to kick off the new year, you would be right. In spite of everything that’s going on in the world, I do think the year of the snake will bring many good things, and that this new moon is a lucky start to it. But I have to include a disclaimer, as I tend to be sometimes a little overly optimistic about new moons. While a new moon is a positive change in energy almost always, a change of any sort can set all kinds of forces in action. Some of you will remember the story of the time I got my car stolen, likely because it was a new moon, and less light out. And then there was the new moon on which I got my wayward cat back, and that did not go well (though all is better now). Oftentimes when you get what you want, there is a kickback. So, the best way to approach this new moon (and new year) is with positive energy, but with expectations, particularly those tied to external events, in check.
Rather than just daydreaming of the lucky breaks you would like, ask your guidance about how to create these opportunities. Through meditation, mindfulness, and paying attention to the signs, symbols and leanings you receive, the next step will become clear.

A side note about the state of the world: Yes, I know things are uncertain and divisive out there. And I know the Doomsday Clock was just updated to another minute closer to midnight. And with the north node and Venus and Neptune conjunct, purposeful action to help others, even in small numbers is favored now, and your impact will be more meaningful than you imagine.
