Monday’s 27 degree Aquarius full moon (11:26 a.m. pacific) has a little something for everyone, and the name of the game is change. But we’ll get to that part in a minute.
Every planet in the chart of this full moon is aspected by at least two others, and some have three or more aspects. A full moon’s chart is already eventful just by virtue of the oppositional pull of the sun and moon. And almost always, there are a few tense aspects in addition to that central opposition.
This is definitely one of those full moons that are chock full of interactions, the majority of them bringing some kind of challenge. And the planet with the most aspects is Uranus, the planet of disruption, revolution, innovation, basically all manner of change.
But don’t freak. Yes, there will be drama, and the Mercury retro, which just slid back from sensible, detached Virgo into emotional, theatrical Leo, amplifies it. But there is a way to approach it that mitigates some of the difficulty. Take nothing too seriously now. Laugh and be flexible. Yes, I say this at every Mercury retro in some fashion, but to this one I add: learn something from every seeming misstep, frustration or setback. And here’s another thing I say frequently: don’t rush to judgment. A Mercury retro time-period is also full of reversals and opportunities to pivot.
The Mercury retro started on August 4th, and will continue through August 28th. Yes, there is always the getting-back-up-to speed period, which I often call the proceed-with-caution period. That takes us to about September 7.
But I get that people have to do things during a Mercury retro. But try to incorporate rest, and double-check those items of most importance before signing, hitting send (yup, Mercury retro is famous for email and text typos) or otherwise finalizing things.
And any major life changes? Well, my rule of thumb is: only if the angels trumpet. Which means you will want to not only know what you are undertaking, but feel a strong sense of spiritual guidance around it coupled with a knowing that now truly is the right time to set forth.
The changes that I was referring to in the opening paragraph are smaller habitual and systematic changes that will make a big difference in the long run. Oftentimes, negative experiences and singular provocative events drive us to make the changes we would like to see in our world and the larger world. This is a time to use the emotional discomfort or pain to motivate ourselves toward changes that we know will be good for us.
Yep, there’s a lot out there to motivate change. Use everything that comes up to that end. Some of it will be positive and inspirational. Other times, it will suck just bad enough to get us moving.
Again, the two weeks following a full moon is a good time to clear, clean, de-tox, de-clutter and any other manner of releasing the things that no longer contribute meaningfully to your life. Start here.
Also, Mercury retro may present unique solutions to old problems. Meditate, be mindful and listen to dreams, hunches and out-of-the-blue thoughts. Synchronicity also has interesting ways of appearing, and often looking like a pain in the behind. Again, don’t rush to judgment.
Jupiter makes a strong showing in the chart of this full moon, so, once again, everything that challenges you (most of the aspects to Jupiter are squares, a challenging aspect) may eventually lead to good fortune. And with Mars conjunct Jupiter, make sure to work in the direction of your grand vision and those things most important to you. Where you put your energy now will determine to a larger extent, the quality of your future experiences.
Neptune, the planet of spirituality, intuition, and on the other side of the coin, illusion and deception, is actually very positively aspected to the other two outer planets, Pluto (transformation, power) and Uranus (disruption and innovation). Use what you intuit and feel compelled toward to move forward now. And join forces with others who share your vision for the world. This is a very powerful time.
But be aware that you, and those around you may experience hurt feelings. This is partly due to an emo Mercury retro, a full moon, and also a moon/Uranus square. It’s not the end of the world. I’m saying this with two fingers pointing back at myself. Take a deep breath, re-center yourself, and keep moving. If it is something you feel you need to address with another, meditate and/or sleep on it. A lot of what happens now will not linger too long. And sometimes letting it go is the best course of action.
If I were to give any relationship advice now, it would be to be extra mindful of your partner’s feelings and anticipate their needs as best you can. You may head off arguments that don’t belong in the relationship at all, but come from other places (like work or extended family dramas). Now I’m really pointing back at myself. Venus and Saturn are in opposition now as well, so best to exercise caution in the arenas of love and money, and especially where the two intersect.
I know you know this, but it does bear repeating that a Mercury retro/highly emo full moon is not the time for big purchases, and impulses to buy will be stronger now. Chill and maybe keep the credit cards at home. At the very least, try to employ my “Capricorn purchase” rule-of-thumb: if it’s meant for me, the choice to buy (or commit) will be there tomorrow. Give it 24 hours, and make sure the choice comes from a centered place.
Oh, and did I mention that Mercury is conjunct the Leo sun, which, of course, means it is opposed the moon. Yep, another reason that feelings may be hurt, and/or being around people could get a tad tiring especially in the days around the full moon, and even for the most stalwart extrovert. It is OK to take some down-time. In fact, take as much as you need.
Where does this all fall in your chart? What do you have at (or within 6 degrees of) 27 degrees? In fixed signs (challenging) or non-fixed air/fire signs (more positive)?
Think of these next two weeks as a day at an amusement park. You probably will have some adventurous fun. Some rides may jostle you about and even freak you out. You most likely will survive. And good will come of what happens now. I will also add that the news will be wilder than usual now. Hang on. There’s a nice (much better-behaved) Virgo new moon coming up in a couple weeks.
Full Moon Blessings,
Jackleen
