As you probably know, Virgo is the sign of the housekeeper. For that reason, the Virgo new moon (August 30, 3:37 a.m. pacific)  is one of my favorites, believe it or not. Cleaning, organization and all the stuff that most people don’t want to do and would rather delegate is easier to accomplish now. And this new moon comes right in time to take advantage of forward-moving energies in an organized and systematic way.

One of the reasons that this particular Virgo new moon can put a gust of wind in your sails is that other planetary obstructions have recently been removed. For example, Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion just went direct after a four-month retro cycle. Before that, Mercury changed course as well, capping off an transformational eclipse cycle.

Add to that favorable aspects to Uranus, the planet of change and innovation. Uranus is also the planet of the visionary. So it’s time to get to work on your grand vision.

Mars and Mercury also figure into the chart of the new moon, flanking the sun/moon conjunction on either side. Suffice it to say that a lot can be accomplished with action, communication and boldness now. And even relationships can get a boost, as the coupling planets Mars and Venus are conjunct. It’s worth noting that all these planets are in Virgo, which brings a natural caution and restraint into the mix. Mercury is at home here, so communications are favored. Virgo tends to worry and over-analyze, so if you can center yourself and avoid these pitfalls, all the better.

Another thing about Virgo: it likes to do one thing at a time, and enjoys incremental progress. Using timers to measure your productivity and keep yourself on task will be helpful. Meditation and interspersing mental and physical tasks will help you preserve your energy and focus.

The only trouble comes from Neptune and Jupiter. Let’s start with Neptune, which is the planet of illusion. It opposes the love and money goddess Venus, so be careful with purchases or suitors that seem too good to be true. But again, that natural Virgo caution is there. Step back for a moment. Don’t let anyone put you on the hurry-up. If it really is that good, it will keep. And trusting your own intuition is the best remedy for the troublesome side of Neptune.

While Jupiter is mostly a beneficial planet, sometimes it picks up squares like we see in this new moon chart (to Neptune and Venus). This month, Jupiter’s problems come from overriding your own intuition in service of someone else’s agenda. So sweet-talk and or advertising hype may be the biggest red flag of the next few weeks. Jupiter also has a tendency to make us feel invincible. While there will be no shortage of go-ahead energy during this time, make sure you research any big plans or purchases. Again, Virgo has a nice mitigating influence, so most of us won’t have too many problems with that. Though it might be helpful to look at what areas in which you most often “go overboard”. This highly confident Jupiter may trigger those impulses.

But mostly, this is a nice “green-light” new moon. New moons are about building, growth and manifestation. This one has fewer obstacles to getting things done than most, which is why this one is great for committing or re-committing to your grand vision, then taking the practical steps toward bringing that vision into reality.

And speaking of the upcoming new moon, I’m having a New Moon Circle on THIS  Friday, August 30!

We’ll discuss planetary happenings for the month, and how to maximize your chances of success in all areas during this time. We’ll also do a fabulous energy-enhancing manifestation circle and talk about upcoming lucky days and how to best use them, and how each of the signs can most successfully navigate the upcoming transits. We’ll have refreshments and snacks. And my personal mission is that you will have a better month if you attend this fun, informative gathering!
